I wish I had more space to wax poetic about how lovely, safe, quiet, kind, and gorgeous of an experience it was to be at the guest house with Struan and Isla as hosts. Suffice to say, if you are looking for a place where you can self-manage your tasks (from which there are plenty to choose-I spent my time rotating through small projects like cleaning and organizing gardening pots, weeding, and clearing gravel paths), spend some time wandering around a small village surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, and enjoy the company of a silly sweet dog and extremely kind people, you will feel at home here!

It was a splendid experience. Before arriving, i got to a where I was asking myself why I am doing this, but now I can proudly say that it was completely worth it and I will always remember it and cherish the moments I shared with them through heart and soul. Struan's family has a beautiful land and the guest house is cosy with all comfort possibilities. I look forward for our paths to cross sometime soon. I absolutely recommend it to everyone who wants to volunteer as they are flexible in both working hours and skills performed.

Struan, & his wife, Ira, were very friendly, open & helpful, Both of them often spent hours on gardening. So, It was easy to find them and ask them to find my tasks. We talked about a wide range of issues when we had lunch and we went shopping. Work: I didn't find my tasks hard. I usually worked 4 hours a day. My tasks were only gardening. My main task was weeding. Accommodation: I stayed at a guest house that was used for Airbnb. I had privacy because of the distance between the guest house and their main house. The host gave me a ride to a supermarket in Huntly a few times in a week.

I just spent three wonderful weeks with Struan and his family. They are incredible and extremely nice people with a beautiful home and gardens. I had my own the guest house which was great and ate all the raspberries that I could manage. The working hours are flexible which worked out great for me as I enjoy working in the mornings. The village is full of great people that I was fortunate to meet. The gardening work was clearing paths,, cleaning a terrace, and fixing the raspberry patches. This was a fantastic experience and one that I will always remember. I highly recommend this volunteer position.
