Staying true to the more rustic-chic roots of glamping, the canvas bell tents at Iluka Retreat are kitted out with bunting, plenty of cushions, blankets and rugs, and a small private deck to boot. Mornington Peninsula Glamping

An adults-only glamping retreat, set within the grounds of a Mornington Peninsula winery: what more could you want? Located in among the hills that overlook Port Phillip Bay, some 300 metres above sea level, family-owned Blue Range Estate Wines is home to 10 glamping tents. Get back to (rather comfortable) basics in one of their spacious bell tents, which feature a queen-sized bed with 1000 thread count sheets, plus two armchairs and a coffee table, and solar power for charging up your devices. Guests share a cooking and dining area that’s home to two barbecues, as well as a bathroom that’s housed within a shipping container.

Spend your Saturday touring the peninsula’s best beaches, wineries and distilleries before holing up in your tent with a crisp glass of the estate’s pinot grigio to toast to the day that was, and perhaps spend a lazy Sunday morning on-site, soaking up the tranquility before heading home, and enjoying lunch at the winery’s restaurant, which boasts stellar views over the hills, vineyards and sea.

If you’re sold on the idea of glamping, but not all too fussed about the destination, then try Happy Glamper out for size. The company creates bespoke glamping micro-adventures across the Mornington Peninsula: all you have to do is choose when, where and how.

There are three different sized bell tents to choose from, ranging between four and six metres, or you can go all out with Happy Glamper’s super spacious Lotus Belle tents.
