  • Travel insurance really is the key here especially as more people travel low cost carriers, which tend to offer less compensation than a full service carrier (generally).

Of course choosing an insurance policy that covers these items including lose of luggage, and if you’re travelling with children you really want to know your covered for any circumstance.

Citizens of the EU are entitled to a full refund if a flight is delayed for more than three hours. It is unfair that our government has not endeavoured to obtain the same rights for us as travellers. It is not about the money as such but the inconvenience, especially when we live so far from the rest of the world. Travel can take up to 24 hours or more alone , throw in a seven hour delay , one is wiped out after such a trip. Airline companies would think twice about making unnecessary delays. At this point they, wouldn’t dare disrupt the service in the EU, unless it is out of their control but for us Australians , no one cares if they decide to consolidate two flights into one to save or cancel altogether.
